These are the questions we are most often asked. If your question isn’t dealt with here, simply call us and we’ll be happy to respond.
What injuries can I claim for?
It doesn’t have to be a severe injury for you to be entitled to compensations. In law, you are entitled to be compensated for any injury arising out of a non-fault accident which you sustain. This can include cuts, bruises and soft tissue injuries.
Is there a time limit on submitting compensation claims?
There is a statutory limit usually of three years from the date of the accident for adults and a claim can be submitted at any stage during this period. Children can bring claims up to their 21st birthday. The case can sometimes be pursued late, but that should be avoided if at all possible.
How long will a personal injuries claim take to be resolved?
This generally depends upon the nature of the injury you sustain and the approach taken by the opponent. Straightforward injuries should be resolved and settled within a twelve month period. Larger or more complicated claims may take longer. However, as we are only paid at the end of the case, we will try to complete it as quickly as we properly can.
How is my claim funded?
We know that being involved in an accident is stressful enough and many people are put off by what they think might be the cost of paying for specialist legal services. We aim to remove all the worry by us pursuing your claim for you. We will deal with your case without cost to you. Any compensation you receive is 100% yours and unlike other law firms, we will never deduct from your compensation to cover our fees. We will be paid by obtaining the fees and expenses from the opponent.
Do I need to have reported my injuries to my GP or hospital?
It will help your case to have a written record of the injuries either at your doctor’s or hospital, but this is not essential. If you have not been to visit your GP or hospital it should not prevent you from presenting the claim, although if the accident was recent or there are any ongoing symptoms, we recommend that you now go to your GP.
Can I be compensated for losses other than injuries?
You are entitled to recover any loss which you incur as a result of an accident, including damaged clothing and possessions, expenses, care and assistance needed and loss of earnings. Although compensation for some injuries is significant, often it is the other elements which are the main part of larger claims. It is important to include everything claimable. Please see valuing your claim.
